Wage/Salary/Other Compensation: $6.15/hr (university credit or work-study is also available) Mileage to and from Lolo Pass will also be reimbursed

Employment End Date: September 7, 2008Travelers’ Rest Preservation and Heritage Association (TRPHA) is a non-profit organization that manages Travelers’ Rest State Park through a unique management agreement with the Montana Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks. This Shared Summer Seasonal Position is funded in a partnership with the Clearwater National Forest.
Job Description: Shared Summer Seasonal will divide their 40 hour work-week between Travelers’ Rest State and Lolo Pass. This individual will provide basic visitor services, staffing bookshops and visitor centers in both locations. This position will require applicant to answer questions on history, geography, culture and provide directions. The Shared Summer Seasonal will also assist with school groups, Bicentennial Program and assist volunteers and interpretive staff when needed. The Shared Seasonal is expected to plan, prepare and present an original interpretive program to be presented at Travelers’ Rest and possibly Lolo Pass.
Duties include:
- Develop and present interpretive program(s) pertinent to Lewis and Clark or other history at Travelers’ Rest
- Assist in Visitor area and Bookshop at Travelers’ Rest State Park and Lolo Pass
- Help with children’s programs and special events
- Take on personal projects including, statistics, brochures or calendars
- Help interpretive staff with various projects
Qualifications: Applicants should have an interest or background in, interpretation, history or recreation management as well as excellent communication skills. Applicant should be comfortable with light hiking, be able to lift up to 50 pounds, and be willing to work outside for extended periods of time in a variety of elements.
