Travelers’ Rest is located at the junction of ancient Native American trails that have brought people together for thousands of years. |

Following those trails, the Lewis and Clark Expedition arrived at Travelers’ Rest on September 9, 1805. Here they rested until September 11. In 1806, they returned to Travelers’ Rest on June 30 and stayed until July 3. |
